LEICA TOTAL STATIONS . . . . EVOLUTION
It all started way back in 1921 with Wild T2 (Wild was the original name of Leica)
Heinrich Wild launched T2 – 1” Accuracy Opto Mechanical Theodolite for Angle Measurements, and this Instrument was a revolution in Surveying (Quoting Google). Shortly after its launch it came to be recognized as the most Accurate and also the most reliable Theodolite in the world. The Equipment was not only hugely Sought After but went on to become a legend in the World of Survey – Used in practically every Prestigious Project that required a High Accuracy Angle Measurement Device.
In due course, Theodolites gave way to Total Stations (Adding Distance Measurement to that of Angle) and Opto Mechanical functionality switched to Electronic. Result was the “Incredible Evolution of Leica Electronic Total Stations”that has spawned decades and is an unending story till date.
This is an attempt to capture and put forth how this Story has unfolded and looks today . . .Leica Family of Total Stations is still the most distinguished, standing totally Apart in Innovation – Accuracy – Absolute Reliability & sheer Pedigree . .
